By Elisabeth Thornton Cabarrus Arts Council In 2013 local artist Liz Gray launched a campaign to liven up neighborhoods surrounding downtown Concord with painted murals. One of her last of around six of them, was an enormous peacock that sprouted plumes of vibrant colors along a building at the corner of Kerr Street and McGill Avenue in the Gibson Mill neighborhood.Nine years have taken their toll on the old bird. Her once vivid feathers have lost their luster, and it looked, for a time, like the mural was on the fast track to fading into extinction.
